THOMAS SCHMITZ
Thomas Schmitz is an established entrepreneur with a passion for continuously improving systems and process’. A staph infection in his hand as a result of a surgery he underwent presented an opportunity for him to use his passion for improvement to help himself and the community at large. The “Healing Spider” is the culmination of that infection and an Idea Mr. Schmitz had as he battled to stay healthy.
As Mr. Schmitz and his medical team worked to curb the effects of the infection running through his arm, a question arose “How could I do this better?”. The question wasn’t limited to simply the problem at hand, it was larger than that. How could Mr. Schmitz use this problem as an opportunity to help himself and others overcome similar situations, or prevent them outright? The answer to those questions came in the form of a medical device geared toward treating and preventing similar issues in other people, with an emphasis on overall health not simply treating symptoms.
Using the skills learned as a business owner for the last 20 years Mr. Schmitz broke the problem down into its component parts, assembled a team, and created a solution where there was previously simply blank space. The “Healing Spider” is a device created from necessity, for a specific purpose, by a passionate team of professionals. Mr. Schmitz’ vision is to see the “Healing Spider” blend the treatment of symptoms and the promotion of overall health in the injury treatment and prevention niche.
